Popular Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has taken to social media to recount the hard discipline he received from his father and veteran actor, Pete Edochie that set his focus straight as a child.
Yul Edochie says his father beat him up mercilessly after he made known to him his desire to drop out of secondary school and become a trader.
The actor took to his Twitter page today being Thursday, April 23, 2020, where he opened up about the terrible but valuable experience with his father.
In his tweet, Yul recalled how he had walked up to his father and told him of his plan to quit his classroom education for life in the marketplace as an electrical trader.

However, the suggestion did not sit well with the Nollywood icon who lured his young son into the house behind closed doors and flogged the idea out of his brain.
Yel went on to note that the not so nice experience made him a better person and for that reason he is grateful to his father.
“In JS2, I told my father I didn’t want to go to school anymore, he should open electrical shop for me. He said ok. He invited me to his room, locked the door & pulled out his belt. He gave me a beating that reset my brain to factory setting. Look at me today. Thank you Dad!” he wrote.

As expected, Yul’s story caught the attention of many fans who are familiar with the on-screen no-nonsense attitude of his father. They quickly pounced on the opportunity to express their surprise at his boldness to discuss such matter with him at that tender age.
Here’s how they reacted:
Yul Edochie said as a boy, he told his father he didn't wanna go to school anymore…
I don't care about the rest of the gist but teenage Yul must have had balls of steel to boldly tell Pete that.
I can't even talk to Pete Edochie anyhow from behind my TV screen.

I don't know how Yul Edochie did it, he must have been very high before he told Pete Edochie he wouldn't be going to school.
The same Pete Edochie I cannot make eye contact with while watching his movie on the TV.
