Khafi Kareem says she was sexually abused and made to feel guilty about it.
Khafi Kareem of BBNaija has joined the list of women on social media using the hastag #whyididntreport to tell their sad stories of sexual abuse and why they didn’t report their abusers.
On Tuesday, June 2, 2020, the reality star let out a series of surprising tweets revealing that she too has been a victim of rape at the hand of a man.
In her tweets, Khafi explained that she did not report her rapist because he immediately apologized to her and blamed the act on his drunken state which she accepted to be a valid excuse at the time.

She also revealed that the first person she opened up to about the traumatic experience said she caused it and this made her to feel dirty and ashamed.
“#WhyIDidntReport – because he apologised right after. Because I made myself believe him being drunk was an excuse. Because the one person I did tell said I caused it. Because I felt dirty and ashamed. #WeAreTired,” she wrote.

Speaking further, Khafi noted that she decided to share her story in the hope that it will inspire other women to speak up about their own ordeal.

#whyididintreport is one of the many ways Nigerians are reacting to the rape and murder of a young university student named Uwa.
