British Airways sacked an air stewardess, Joanne Wickenden, age 23 who made a nasty video, perceived as racist, mocking Nigerian passengers while in her uniform before flying from London to Abuja on the 22nd of November 2017.
In the shocking footage shared on Snapchat, the stewardess was heard saying;
“Alright, so all of you are there getting ready for your Friday night, getting in the pre-drinks, you know, as you do.
‘And I’m here, getting ready to go to work, put on a yellow life jacket, point out the exits, hand out chicken or beef, what sort of Friday night is this for me?
‘The upside is I’m going to Nigeria and there’s gonna be bare BBC, I’m joking, I’m joking.
‘All the Nigerians are gonna be there like ‘gimme Coca Cola, gimme me beef, why you have no beef left? I want beef.’
‘And I’m just gonna be there like, ‘Sorry sir, we ran out of beef’.
‘All the Nigerians are gonna be there asking for f****** upgrades because they haven’t got enough leg room because their BBCs are in their way. Big d**** like this swinging from side to side.’
Social media reacted in horror to the 23-year old’s Snapchat video. However, she has since been sacked by British Airlines.
After a two-hour meeting with her bosses at the airline, she was sacked. The airline confirmed this in a statement, saying; ‘She no longer works for British Airways. We expect the utmost professionalism from our staff when they are representing British Airways.’
Joanne, however, insists that she’s not racist and claimed the video was just a joke. She told Mail Online; ‘I have been framed by another BA employee. They were encouraging me, egging me on to say things. They were recording me and sent it around to our friends. I don’t want to fly anymore.’
Unless Joanne was at gunpoint when she was busying herself with Snapchat filters she was clearly voicing out her worries and what she deemed as truth to anyone willing to listen, including her references to black male genitalia and all, she indeed was framed.
