Nollywood actor Saidi Balogun has expressed concern about the current economic situation in Nigeria.

In a post on his Instagram page, the Yoruba actor, who was a strong supporter of Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election, raised questions about the existence and effectiveness of price control and regulatory agencies in the country, seeking clarification on measures to mitigate the impact of inflation.

The actor highlights the need for measures to address the rising prices impacting individuals and businesses in the country, stating that the situation is already getting out of control.

He wrote, “Do we have a functional price control or piece regulatory agency in Nigeria?

How do we cushion the effects of inflation?

Because things are getting out of hand”

Similarly, actress Nkechi Blessing also cried out over worsening economic hardship.

She shared her recent experience of exhausting her N150,000 on essential food items at a market in Ogba.

On her Instagram page, Nkechi questioned the sustainability of the current economic conditions, wondering if others have resigned to the situation.

She listed the items she bought, highlighting the high cost of living.

Nkechi acknowledged that she is not wealthy and felt compelled to voice her concerns.

She also noted that individuals from various economic backgrounds are struggling, and it may be time for her to explore opportunities abroad.

She wrote:

“So I carried N150k to the market to buy basic things – Turkey 2 kilos, catfish, life chicken, and goat meat. Guess what? N1000 didn’t return home with me. One yam na N10000 now. I noticed that people aren’t talking about the economy anymore; it’s like you guys enjoy it. I am not rich, so I will complain. Besides, even the rich are complaining. I am not the rich but one of the masses, and I am complaining like this.

It’s time to dust my passport because it is no longer getting funny.”
