The stylish and sweet Marie Kumba Gomez was born on the 16th of February 1994 in Gambia. She’s the daughter of a renowned playwright, author and publisher Mr George Gomez and a Nursing Sister & Health Adviser Sai Samba Gomez. She studied Drama in Brampton Manor school in which she ended up with Grade A.
Marie Gomez came into spotlight when she won Ruke Amata’s “Class Act 2011″ in which she was offered a lead Role in “The past came calling” directed by Ruke Amata himself; which featured one of Nigeria’s top actress Chioma Chukwuka and another top Ghanaian Actor John Dumelo.
Marie has also featured in several movies produced in the UK like Hunting 4 hubbies, Life Beyond , Shameful Deceit, Battered , Single & Searching , Cafe Afrik . Her manager, Ruke Amata is a renowned top Director in Nollywood who is also the founder of the talent hunt “Class Act “.
She also featured in the most talked about Nollywood Comedy “London Na Wa ” produced in the UK and directed by Nelson Spyk.
The Beautiful Actress is one of a kind, she’s always been involved in charity works. At the Age of 11 , Marie joined a charity
youth Group (Join Hands) where she organized and performed several shows alongside with her fellow Group mates to raise funds for her country of Origin, Gambia. Her talent and organizational skills was clearly noted and for that , she was appointed as the Group Leader which meant more acting and commitment.
Marie Gomez is not only a beautiful and talented actress but she is also a Leader. She was appointed a prefect in secondary school. She was also a learning coach which involves helping students with their academic development and activities. Due to her Diligence and hard work, she was voted to be the chair of the school and the class council. Alongside, she was also a team leader within the prefects.
Marie Gomez is known for her kind and bubbly personality but Nevertheless, she is known for her versatility and high professionalism in her career as an actress.
Vice president of Gambia Dr Aja Isatou Njie Saidy described Marie Gomez as an ambassador of Gambia; she also commended Marie for her achievements so far as an upcoming actress. During the launching of “The past came calling ” Marie was described as a rising Star.
She won “The best upcoming Actress ” during the African Women Achievers Awards(2013) presented by African Women of Substance.
She is currently studying Tourism Management at Anglia Ruskin University.
She is also interested in Modeling but her love for Acting is incomparable.
Marie loves to dance; she was in an African dance group. Also, she loves to learn and cook different kinds of continental foods. Funny enough , Marie just likes to stay home tucked under her duvet, drinking a cup of tea and watching television.
