White & Case, in association with Women Leaders in Infrastructure held a summer event in London on the 9th of July 2014. Speakers at the event includes Nigerian formal president Olusegun Obasanjo, Cherie Blaire, wife of Tony Blair formal UK Prime Minister, and Brigette Radebe, Africa’s first black female mining entrepreneur and one of the continent’s most influential female business leaders .
Olusegun Obasanjo and Foundation spoke about Girl Child Initiative in a number of African States and its focus on addressing the pressing and critical issue of safety and security for girls in Africa. Following the abduction of over 200 girls in northern Nigeria, the Foundation aims to accelerate its efforts in keeping girls in school by improving school infrastructure in other to provide safer and more secure schools for girls, advancing STEM education, teacher training and providing vocational training and finical literacy programmes to equip girls with the skills they require so that they are able to transition from school to the work place.
