The Nigerian/British Oscar nominee and 12 Years A Slave actor was awarded a CBE for services to drama by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William, during an official ceremony held at Buckingham Palace on Tuesday, November 10th morning. Chiwetel, age 38, was awarded an OBE in 2008 and now has a CBE which means Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE).
The Hollywood star was overcome with emotion as he spoke to Prince William in front of the large crowd assembled, beaming with pride as he was recognised for his services to drama.
Apart from Award-winning 12 Years A Slave, Chiwetel is known for his roles in movies such as; Dirty Pretty Things and Half Of A Yellow Sun. He will next be seen in ‘Secret In Their Eyes‘ movie alongside Nicole Kidman.
He’s also earned high praise for treading the boards in London, taking the lead in Othello at the Donmar Warehouse and starring in a recent production of Everyman at the National.
