Meet ‘Dotun Popoola’, A Scrap Metal Junk Artist with Wow! factors!

Who said Nigerian youths are lazy? Dotun Popoola is one of a kind,  a renowned Nigerian artist who thinks beyond your imagination. He uses metal scraps and junk that has been dumped, resurrects and gives them purpose. From his Bulldog metal art to his well-defined Cow head, Motorcycle and more, this man has the WOW! factor.

Popoola describes himself as an artist who is “always on the move searching for new ideas, blending training in different forms of art from different schools and studios; different techniques and cultures, in order to create a unique form of art”.

Popoola is taking his art in a new direction. His fusion of metal junk, cast bronze and aluminium, elaborate motifs and colours into effortful masterpieces is a stroke of genius that gives scrap a new life through resurrection.
His first exhibition, “Irin Ajo” was showcased at a Signature Gallery in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria in March 2018. | Rebranding & Celebrating Africa!
