Former WWE superstar-turned actor Dwayne Johnson has bagged himself the lead role of Superman in the yet-to-be-released DC Universe movie, Black Adam.
Johnson, who is best known by his WWE aliase The Rock, made the announcement on his Instagram page alongside a photo of himself decked out in his superhero costume with eyes glowing. He also accompanied it with a heartfelt message of ‘dream come true.’
According to the 47-year old, he always dreamed about being a superhero while growing up as a kid, and to put his cool superpowers to good use by fighting for what is right and offering protection to people.
He wrote: “Like most kids growing up, I dreamed about being a superhero. Having cool superpowers, fighting for what’s right and always protecting the people. It all changed for me when I was 10yrs old and was first introduced to the greatest superhero of all time – SUPERMAN. As a kid, Superman was the hero I always wanted to be. But, a few years into my fantasy, I realized that Superman was the hero, I could never be. I was too rebellious.
In another excerpt from his post, the Fast & Furious star also treated his followers to a nice spoiler alert on the kind of superpowers Black Adams will possess.
“I’m honored to join the iconic #DCUniverse and it’s a true pleasure to become BLACK ADAM. BLACK ADAM is blessed by magic with the powers equal to SUPERMAN, but the difference is he doesn’t toe the mark or walk the line. He’s a rebellious, one of a kind superhero, who’ll always do what’s right for the people – but he does it his way,” he added.
Those who follow the acting career of Dwayne Johnson are accustomed to his unique way of solving problems — by smashing a hole through every obstacle in a massive truck. They’ve seen him smash people on Monday Night Raw and other cool Hollywood movies like Fast & Furious. And now they sure can’t wait to see the cool things he will do with his soon-to-have superpowers.
Black Adams is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2021.
