Popular Nigerian singer Duncan Mighty has taken to social media to announce that he is out of police custody and has regained his freedom in what was first reported to be an abduction by unknown gunmen.
Panic ensured among Nigerian social media users and fans of Duncan Mighty on December 14, after it was reported via an Instagram post by celebrity barman, Cubana Chiefprist, that the singer was beaten up and carried away by unknown gunmen in Owerri, the capital city of Imo State.
But in a later development, the Imo state police department issued a statement that, contrary to popular reports, revealed the singer was not abducted but arrested and detained by the police for an alleged N11M fraud that sterns from his breach of a contract agreement between him and the state government under the tenure of former governor, Rochas Okorocha,
The agreement entails he helps an upcoming artist in the state identified as M2 rise above the music ranks by signing, managing, promoting and collaborating with the rookie singer, which he allegedly backtracked from, and hence, caused the government to take action.
All is well with Duncan Mighty, and the singer himself has taken to his official Instagram page to announce he is out of police custody with this video that is making the rounds amongst concerned Nigerians.
