Singer Burna Boy atoned for his Grammy disappointment by clinching the Best International Act award.
On Sunday, June 28, 2020, the 20th edition of BET Awards was held in a virtual ceremony due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The award show was hosted by comedian and actress Amanda Seales, with performances from stars like Alicia Keys, Chloe x Halle, DaBaby, D Smoke, Jennifer Hudson, John Legend, Jonathan McReynolds, Kane Brown, Lil Wayne, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, SiR, Summer Walker, Usher and Wayne Brady.
The biggest winners on the night were
Beyoncé, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Chris Brown, Roddy Ricch, DJ Khaled, Nipsey Hussle and John Legend. The music stars won two awards each. Nigerian singer Wizkid also went home with an accolade after emerging winner of BET HER Awards.
Beyonce dedicated her award to
the Black Lives Matter movement,
and encouraged activists to continue to push forward. While Burma Boy also addressed racial prejudice in his virtual acceptance speech after he was presented the award by British supermodel Naomi Campbell.
