Royal couple Prince Harry and Megan Markle are set to move to a new sprawling home reportedly acquired with financial assistance from dad and Duke of Rothesay, Prince Charles.
The couple bought the sprawling nine-bedroom and 16-bathroom mansion in upscale Montecito, California, for $14.65million on June 18, making them neighbors with celebs Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres, according to reports.
Property listings say the home took nearly five years to build and included a library, office, spa with a separate dry and wet sauna, a gym with a stripper pole, game room, arcade, theater, wine cellar and five-car garage.
Harry’s dad Prince Charles is said to have helped the pair purchase the home, with a source telling the Daily Mail the heir to the throne was “keen to help out”.
But that claim has been debunked by an anonymous individual close to the couple who revealed that “Meghan and Harry finally feel like they are on their own, and it feels great. They bought this house without help from his family, they aren’t using it on loan from a friend as they had before. It’s truly theirs and they can’t wait to make it a home.”
The private community, surrounded by sea and mountains, is 90 minutes north of Los Angeles, where the Sussexes had initially been living at a mansion owned by film producer Tyler Perry following their relocation to the United States with son Archie.
The couple will hope that the experience of their new home will be different from their time at Tyler’s where they had privacy troubles with paparazzi and surveillance drone that tried to gain access to them.
Harry and Megan relinquished their roles as senior members of the British Royal Family back in early 2020 to concentrate on their young family.
