Its’s been 33 years since audiences watched crown prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) leave his home country of Zamunda in search of independence and an American wife in the original Coming to America movie.
Now, Murphy is back in Coming To America in a brand new sequel, alongside many of the original cast.
Set in the beautiful and royal country of Zamunda, the much-anticipated sequel for Coming To America continues to follow newly-crowned King Akeem and his trusted confidante Semmi ( Arsenio Hall) embark on an all-new hilarious adventure that has them traversing the globe from their great African nation to the borough of Queens, New York – where it all began.
More exciting is that Amazon Prime Video has released a brand new trailer for the long-awaited comedy sequel to the 1988’s film, giving viewers a closer look at the new characters.
Alongside Eddie Murphy as Akeem, the sequel will feature the return of original cast members Arsenio Hall as Semmi, James Earl Jones as King Jaffe Joffer, Shari Headley as Queen Lisa, John Amos as Cleo McDowell and Louie Anderson as Maurice, and the motley barbershop crew – as well as new cast members, include Rotimi, Teyana Taylor and Michael Blackson.
‘Coming To America 2’ is directed by Craig Brewer and will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on the 5th of March.
