AFCON: Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali Addresses Nigerians, Apologizes In An Emotional Note After Super Eagles’ Loss To Cote d’Ivoire

After Nigeria’s Super Eagles were defeated by Cote d’Ivoire in the AFCON final last night, goalie Stanley Nwabali wrote an emotional letter to millions of Nigerians.

On Sunday, February 11th, the Super Eagles lost to Cote d’Ivoire in a 2-1 match, thereby making Cote d’Ivoire the champion of the AFCON.

Nwabali, via his Instagram page, expressed his disappointment and frustration at disappointing Nigerians.

Apologizing to Nigerians, he noted how he was once a fan, is still a fan, and understands how it feels to give Nigerians a disappointing night.

Taking responsibility and accountability, he appreciated Nigerians for their whole support and expressed love for them.

“A disappointing and frustrating end. I deeply apologize to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night. We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all”.

Following his victory in the semi-final, a Nigerian lady by the name of Amanda Chisom went viral after posing as his wife.

The lady who was left impressed by his skills paraded herself as his wife as she photoshopped herself into several of his photos, describing herself as the first and only wife of the goalkeeper as she added his surname to hers.
