It appears the recent activism of some Nigerian celebrities on social media has been a cause for concern to those at the highest echelon of power in the country.

Two of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities have been reportedly questioned by the Police and the Department of State Service (DSS) over some alleged political statements made against President Muhammadu Buhari‘s administration on social media.

Media mogul Don Jazzy and singer Tiwa Savage were summoned to the Lagos office of the DSS two weeks ago where they were all warned about making utterances against the government, according to Saharareporters.

Tiwa Savage was known to be part of an online movement known as #WeAreTired following the rise in sexual assault cases in the country mostly against women.

The singer was said to have used the movement to call on the government to do something about the increasing rape cases.

It was also said that she made social media posts calling on the government to live up to its people’s expectations and this earned her an invitation from DSS.

Both jazzy and Savage were reportedly warned to be careful with the kind of posts they share on their social media accounts.

They were also warned against making further comments concerning sensitive political issues in the county in other not to incur the wrath of President Buhari.

The report claimed that the warning has subsequently led to the two celebrities cutting back the flow of posts on their various social media pages in recent days.

The likes of Yemi Alade and Waje were also said to have been summoned by DSS for questioning.
