Motivation Monday: Your Pull Back Prepares You For a Greater Launch!

0

‘Every pull-back or set back in life prepares you for an attack to launch you into the realm of your destination, and this can only happen when you remain focused. Don’t you ever see any pull back as a frustration, threat or limitation to your dream, but sees it as an avenue to catapult you to your goal? This is why you should never get discouraged, always encourage yourself to overcome and actualize your life goal.

A catapult or a bowl and arrow, must first be pulled back before it can be launched, and it depends on how you pull it backwards, that determines how far it launches. For this reason, no matter the set back you have experience in your life pursuit, never you give up, see it as a preparation to move to your dream Land. The challenges and difficulties you experience in whatever you are doing, tend to pull you back from not moving forward, and when you give into it, you either be pull backward or remain stagnant.

When you are always afraid of being Pulled back, the possibilities of you moving forward, is hard. Pulling back, should give you the zeal to recoup and then launch the attack that will propel you to your destination. People who aren’t afraid of being pulled back, use the opportunity to correct themselves. Remain focus, and keep on aiming at their target. Never let your pull back stop you, but see it as an opportunity to re strategize and relaunch again to aim your target. You will succeed. Good Morning.

You will succeed!

Good Morning.

Nigerian Veteran Entertainer Mike Okri on Blackwood Project!

0

Veteran singer, songwriter and performer, Mike Okri has been away in the United States of America and off the scene for a while.

He is in the process of making a comeback to the music and entertainment scene. This time around, Mike is set to unleash the very best of him and this promises to take the music industry by a storm.
You will recall that Mike Okri (renowned for his great hits such as (Omoge, Time Na Money, Rhumba Dance ) was the very first Nigerian to be signed on Sony Music. Mike was also the very first Nigerian artiste to land a product endorsement deal with Benson & Hedges; a deal which saw Mike performing live concerts across Europe.
Mike Okri is making a come-back on Blackwood Records and the grapevine has it that Premier Music might be involved in the deal, in which case, we may be having a tripartite deal, which will ensure maximum bang for the comeback and also ensure that the music is more far-reaching than ever.

Nkem Says: The Unique Perks Of Dating an Older Woman!

0

‘I knew I was studying the right course in the university when our lecturer at the time, Dr. Ekeanyanwu Nnamdi(probably the best teacher I’ll ever have) mentioned that a journalist had to have a “nose for news” and “an eye for detail”. I certainly have all of that, including an ear for the most silent whispers. I notice and hear EVERYTHING. Matter of fact, I once narrated an event to my mother – an event that happened when I was just about a year old- with so much detail that she was shocked and was like: “How could you possibly know this? You were a baby” and I was like: “Yeah, it is what it is”

One of the places I like to visit and observe the people as well as surroundings is the grocery store. It’s amazing the kind of people you see and the conversations you overhear. To be honest, I didn’t imagine I would find anything interesting last Sunday when I travelled to Novare Mall to do some grocery shopping, though. It was meant to be a pop in, really. I wouldn’t even have gone, had I not been a little partial to the Game store… they always have the freshest of veggies and fruits.

As was routine, I was garbed in a worn out tee, PJ bottoms, and bathroom slippers, my signature resting bitch face…earphones plugged. I didn’t really expect to see anything interesting until I joined the queue to pay. On the line opposite to me was a white woman, possibly in her early 40s; her husband, certainly in his mid-20s and their son (the cutest little munchkin I’ve seen in ages). It was a difficult situation for me: I was torn between smiling at their very beautiful child and judging the older white woman who obviously lured the younger man to marry her.
I stared at her so much, that she feels probably uncomfortable. I mean, other people were also staring at her.

Why would she come and deprive us of such a handsome young man? She was not fashionable either; she was two times his size and she seemed to be a little slow. Just as I wanted, her eyes met mine and I could see the embarrassment in her eyes. Clearly, she was battling some insecurity. Who wouldn’t… if you have to deal with judging eyes everywhere you go with your younger husband?

Maybe it was the sad look in her eyes or how uncomfortable she seemed, but instantly I felt really bad. Who was I to judge? Am I any better? Since after the guy I dated when I was 24, the rest have been younger than I am actually…I mean nothing extreme like less than 4 or 5 years …still. I know firsthand why a younger man would sincerely opt for a woman older than him. It doesn’t always have to be for some kind of gain or the woman is not always in the relationship out of desperation either.

The thing is, tradition and religion have programmed us to expect the man to be the older one in the relationship. In Nigeria especially, most couples are about the same age and when they’re not, it’s the man that’s older.

Perhaps it is set that way as there is the belief that an older man will be in a better position to care for and protect a younger woman. Truth be told, it’s not always so. Most guys would actually go for older women.

From Peter Okoye and Lola Omotayo, Gabrielle Union, and Dwayne Wade, to Kaffy Shafau and Joseph Ameh. There are so many perks to being with an older woman!

An older woman most usually has got her own life: her own apartment, her own money, her own career. She doesn’t to depend on any man for survival in life really. When she is interested in a man, it is because she wants him. Her affections or love are genuine as well. The woman has been through enough ups and downs already and can handle just about anything. She is not desperate either. She knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go after it.

She may not have the same body she had 10 years ago, but she is not one to feel threatened by younger girls or get bitchy-jealous about exes. And why would she? She is comfortable in her own skin. She doesn’t blow her own trumpet, even though she knows time has allowed her to acquire skills far superior to her younger counterparts. She is hardly dramatic and is less likely to play games.

Quite refreshing is the fact that she does not move in a herd. She can make decisions for herself and she has good judgment too. She does not need the approval of a ‘larger governing body’; her man will never be in a position where he has to apologize to not just her, but every single member of her herd when they fight.

Most importantly, she has a wealth of experience and connection that informs her actions and decisions, and this is what will help her make him a better man.

Dating an older woman is by no means for everyone. It can sometimes come with unique challenges, but with all the perks that come with it, Nigerian men may want to consider changing their preferences and broadening their bracket when searching for love.

Also, onlookers may want to judge less when they meet a woman dating or married to a younger man…no matter the age gap.

Newagemuzik Returns with New Single ‘BROWN SKIN’

0
With over a million streams and views already under their belt, and support from the likes of FACT MagazineMTV UKBeats 1Capital Xtra and OVO Radio among others, British Nigerian duo NewAgeMuzik – Kamo and Prince – are one of the African Diaspora’s best new artists, fusing Afrobeats sensibilities with Hip-Hop and R&B music influences, to create an exciting and distinct new global sound, while making African culture more accessible to the world.
Today (September 8, 2017), NewAgeMuzik are back with their brand new single titled ‘Brown Skin’. Produced by Dami Bones (Wande CoalMoelogo9ice), and engineered by Tobi Notch (BonkazBasemanMazi Chukz), ‘Brown Skin’ is a glorious slow-building Afro-infused R&B offering, which culminates in an explosive drum ‘n’ bass instrumental section, all held together excellently by Kamo and Prince’s infectious vocals and captivating flows.
Known for underground hits such as ‘Da Beat’, ‘Trending Topic’ and ‘DMs’, as well as their critically acclaimed debut EP CarTunes which was released in April 2016, the British Nigerian duo began the year with yet another string of stellar singles ‘Nisho’ produced by GA (Kojo FundsYxng BaneTion Wayne) and ‘Wole’, before taking a brief hiatus to begin work on their forthcoming sophomore EP CarTunes 2 – ‘Brown Skin’ is the first taste of what we can expect from the upcoming project.
Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Brown Skin’, NewAgeMuzik say, “the song was created simply for the ladies, and is especially catered to black women, hence the name ‘Brown Skin’, but we also wanted to send a very conscious message to uplift our black women – they are ‘righteous’ despite how society tries to bring them down, and we have to protect and appreciate them at all times”.
Talking further, the duo added that, “we never hear enough songs that boasted about our black women, so we made one, plus we want the message of ‘Brown Skin’ to be an antithesis to the countless stories of hatred and violence towards our black women that have flooded the news this year. We wanted to record a song dedicated to the ‘brown skin girl’, and appreciate what makes them so unique and beautiful”.

Peter Odianosen Eromosele: Having What You Want In Life Isn’t Always Easy!

0

Good thing they say, doesn’t come easy, and it’s what we want the most that are difficult to get, and for us to be able to achieve it, we must work very hard. Life has away of not dancing to our tune by depriving us of what we need the most, and sometimes, give us what we don’t need, leaving us to work our way to get what we want, and this can only be possible when we do the needful.

Though often times, we pay the sacrifice that’s needed to get what we want still find it difficult to get, only to come across what we don’t need, while what we need, isn’t within our disposal. And the only way we can get what we want is when we remain ‘focused, committed and dedicated’, irrespective of how hard we try but still can’t get it, and we continue until we achieve it. The more we go for it, the tougher it becomes, and it’s only when we persist, we can get it.

We may want white and life will present black to us, it now depends on whether to accept the fact and continue to work hard until we get the white that we need. We can’t say because what will want didn’t come forth, and we decided to settle for the less no! We should as a matter of importance keep the focus towards what we want so that we can live the life we always wanted for ourselves. There’s no joy greater than knowing what we want in life and going for it, irrespective of the challenges that before us. Having what we want in life, isn’t always easy, but if we pay the price, we will surely have it. Life is what we give, we get out from it.

We will succeed!

UK based Nigerian FGM Campaigner & Midwife Under Investigation for Fake Qualification!

0

Mrs Comfort Iyabo AMah Momoh, age 55 is a London based Nigerian Midwife popularly known for campaigning against Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) across the UK and beyond. She is under investigation for allegedly exaggerating her professional qualifications.

Comfort set up the UK’s first FGM clinic and was awarded an MBE for services to women’s health care. A report by BBC revealed that she overstated her professional qualifications. They claim she repeatedly described herself as a ‘Dr. Momoh’, despite not being a qualified medical doctor.

Mrs Momoh has an honorary doctorate from Middlesex University, however, that doesn’t make her a doctor. She is also being addressed as a doctor on the website of Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust London, where her FGM clinic is situated.

Nurses and Midwifery Council confirmed that she is under investigation but declined to reveal any details.

According to the BBC programme Newsnight, Mrs Momoh has also examined children for FGM at least five times despite not having the relevant qualifications. Official medical guidelines state that only a doctor with specialist training should examine child abused victims.

Mail Online reported that in 2014, a judge described her as ‘not a reliable witness’ during a court case in Leeds in which a girl was alleged to have had undergone FGM.

‘She had merited harsh criticism and had difficulty in providing answers to even the simplest factual questions’, Said The Judge Sir James Munby.

After examining the girl, Mrs. Momoh originally said there was evidence to suggest that the child had been subjected to ‘some form of FGM’. But in oral evidence in court, she changed her findings.

Sir James Munby, who also serves as the president of the Family Division, described her report as ‘a remarkably shoddy piece of work’ and ‘worse than useless’.

In conclusion, Judge Munby, there was not enough evidence to suggest that the child had undergone FGM, after Mrs Momoh’s examination was reviewed by an expert.

The Nursing and Midwifery Council which regulates midwives said an investigation into Mrs Momoh stated last month, August 2017 and still ongoing.
