Veteran Nigerian indigenous singer Salawa Abeni has taken to social media to raise alarm after being blackmailed online by an internet user in possession of her nude photos.
Salawa Abeni says she has been shamed and threatened by an anonymous person who has her nude photos from the past.
The singer made this known via her Instagram page on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, where she shared screenshots of multiple chat conversations between her and her blackmailer on WhatsApp.
In their chat, the blackmailer identified as Jason is threatening to tarnish her reputation and destroy her career that has spanned for 45 years.
She noted that the photos were captured during her admission in a hospital or while she was having an intimate moment with her partner.
She went on to release the said nude photos and then expressed her disappointed at the person behind the willful act.
Salawa is a popular Yoruba singer with over a million sold copies of her first music album titled ‘Late General Murtala Muhammed’ which was released in 1976.
