Anthony Joshua, Ms Dynamite, Simone Pennant, Diane Modahl & more on Queen’s Birthday Honour 2018

A number of Black Brits were honoured with OBE title on  June 9th, the Queens official Birthday. World’s Heavyweight Champion, Anthony Joshua,  Mobo Awards founder; Kanya King, Pianist; Julian Joseph amongst others were honoured with an OBE title.

Anthony Joshua who is a proud holder of WBA, IBF and WBO titles was honoured with the title for his services to boxing. In total, there were eight black British on Queens Birthday honour list  2018.

Others popular champions named an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List are

 

  • Ms Dynamite – MBE for services to music.
  •  Kenny Dalglish –MBE for services to sports
  • Diane Modahl – MBE for services to young people & sport
  • Jermain Defoe – OBE for services to the Jermain Defoe foundation
  • Anthony Joshua – OBE for services to sports
  • Julian Joseph – OBE
  •  Lizzy Yarnold – OBE
  • Trombonist Dennis Rollins – MBE
  • Kanya King – CBE
  • Actor: Gary Wilmot – MBE for services to drama.
  • Simone Pennant – MBE for services to diversity in media

British honours nominations are submitted by the government and members of the public and reviewed by experts and senior civil servants before final decisions are made. The Queen informally approves the list and if a nominee accepts the honour, the list is formally approved.

The list is published twice a year; New Year & the Queen’s official birthday.
