Nigerian singer Naira Marley has called off his planned #EndSarsBrutality protest in Lagos.

In a tweet shared via his Twitter page on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, Marley said he is putting a halt to the planned protest for a week.

Giving his reason for calling off the protest, the singer revealed that he has received new assurances from the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on police reform.

However, Marley warned that if the changes that have been promised within the police force are not effected within the week, the protest will go on as planned during the following week.

“We won’t be protesting anymore because there’s a lot of changes being made right now. As a Marlian we will give them a week to see the changes and if there are no changes we will start a mass protest. #togetherwecan,” he tweeted.

In a bid to find a working solution to the end SARS campaign, the Yahoo Boy crooner will now go on a live Instagram session with police PRO, Frank Mba, where questions will be taken and the concerns of Nigerian youths on SARS operations will be addressed.

The new development was also confirmed by the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) in a statement on its official handle.

“Today, Tuesday 6th October 2020, by 11 am, the Force PRO- DCP Frank Mba will be having a live Instagram chat with Naira Marley to answer questions and discuss the concerns of young Nigerians on the issues of SARS operations and other burning issues. Please stay tuned”

This comes hours after the music star announced the plan to stage a protest against the terror carried out by men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARI on young people in Nigeria.
