When it comes to female representation in the Nigerian comedy film scene, popular Nollywood actresses Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele always come top.

Although these two talented and well-decorated actresses started their acting careers in the Yoruba Movie industry, they have since carved a niche for themselves in both the English and Yoruba film industry, giving fans great doses of laughter medicine with their stellar performances year in, year out. Interestingly, with two of them dominating the Nollywood comic scene, they moved from friendly colleagues to rivals and now are frenemies standing between them.

While it’s still unclear how the beef between them began, reports have it that Funke Akindele may have instigated it after she shunned Alakada movie actress during her birthday celebrations and stopped associating with those close to her including Iyabo Ojo. Funke again reportedly refused to patronize stylists that style Toyin and will blatantly refuse to work on any movie production that will also feature Toyin.

In recent times, however, the cold war between both actresses degenerated for the worse following a review of Toyin’s latest movie, ‘The Ghost and The Tout Too’ by a popular Instagram film critic. The review read in part, “Not recommended for intelligent people,” adding that it flagrantly copies Funke Akindele’s latest movie, ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’. Angered by the review, Iyabo Ojo delved in to save the day as she accused Funke of paying the critic to talk down on her rival’s movie.
