Nigerian singer and label owner, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, professionally known as Naira Marley, has dragged actress Iyabo Ojo to court.

The singer, who was released from police custody days ago, is demanding a public apology from the controversial actress.

In his lawsuit, Naira is accusing the mother of two of defaming him, alleging that the actress published false and malicious content about him on her Instagram page.

The letter stated that in an Instagram post published in September 2023, Iyabo accused Naira Marley of dealing with the late singer, Ileriouluwa Oladimeji Aloba, better known as Mohbad, spiritually and physically. His lawyers also claimed that Iyabo accused Naira of destroying Mohbad’s mental health.

The singer is demanding she publish an apology on her official Instagram account and in the National Daily within 7 days of receiving the letter. Failure to do so would result in them commencing legal proceedings and demanding N500 million as damages from the screen goddess.

Iyabo Ojo isn’t the only one; the singer has threatened to sue.

Before being released from prison, Naira Marley and his aide, Sam Larry, filed a lawsuit against the magistrate and police over their continuous detention, seeking N20 million each as damages.

This came after a Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos State, on October 4, 2023, remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry over allegations of bullying the late former Marlian Music signee Mohbad. However, the two were later released.

Africanglitz reported that Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arrested and alleged to be responsible for the death of Naira Marley’s former signee, Mohbad, and were kept in police custody for more than five weeks.

The pair were released on November 17th after they met their bail conditions. This was confirmed by the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Friday, where he revealed that they had perfected their bail conditions granted by a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court.

The magistrate, on Monday, November 6, granted the duo bail in the sum of N20 million with three responsible duties.

Recall that Iyabo, who has been one of the celebrities fighting for the late singer Mohbad, had two weeks ago withdrawn her love and support for Naira Marley and had alleged that the embattled singer had laced her children’s foods with drugs whenever they visited him.

She claimed that the singer used to give her two children, Priscilla and Festus, drugs when they went visiting, and she stressed that she had witnesses to back up her claims.

To add to it, Ojo had recounted how the deceased’s former boss, Naira Marley, rejected one of her adopted sons when she took him to get signed under his label.

The movie star made this known in an Instagram live session, where she demanded Naira Marley and others be held accountable for their actions against the late singer.

According to her, Naira Marley had rejected signing her adopted son on the basis that he was selective about the songs he did on his label.
