Fans of the late actor will get to see his last performance in ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ on December.

Netflix has announced the release date for ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’, a music drama film starring Viola Davis and the deceased actor Chadwick Boseman.

The streaming giant confirmed in a post on Instagram that the film will premiere on the 18th of December 2020.

Directed by George C. Wolfe and based on Pulitzer Prize-winning author August Wilson‘s 1982 play, the drama film explores racial tensions in Chicago in 1927 while following Ma Rainey aka ‘Mother of Blues’ (Viola Davis), her black trumpeter Levee (Boseman) and white management team.

‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom’ is expected to be an emotional film for viewers as it marks Chadwick’s last theater performance before he died of colon cancer in August.
