In heartbreaking news, Nollywood actor Mr. Ibu has sadly passed on following a viral WhatsApp message that found its way online.
After a long and intense battle with his health, the Nollywood alumni seemed to have succumbed to death with cold hands. The viral WhatsApp chat that is being shared on social media shows a particular medical worker disclosing to a friend that he had passed away in her hospital.
This healthcare worker expressed that she knows this because she works at Evercare, which is the hospital where he has been for the past couple of months.
Now recall that last year, back in October, it had been reported that Nollywood actor John Okafor, aka Mr. Ibu, had undergone five surgeries and had been scheduled for even more:
The news broke out in the middle of the year 2023 with a video of him begging the audience and public to help him with funds.
He had disclosed that he could potentially lose his legs if urgent funds were not generated for his healthcare. However, barely a month after his family’s cry for help, one of his legs got amputated. The 62-year-old actor, whose leg was amputated, was featured in so many videos as he seemed to be bouncing back from the surgery.
However, back in December 2023, a misconception started to go around that was quickly debunked by the family, which saw netizens hinting at the fact that Mr. Ibu’s two legs had been amputated. However, his family clarified that the amputation had only happened in one leg.
They also refuted claims that Mr. Ibu’s illness was due to diabetes, as they disclosed that the actor had been contending with clotting of the blood in his leg.
His immediate family has yet to come on social media to debunk and report on his death. However, our prayers continue to be with their family in this trying time.
