Nollywood actors Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dikeh have come under serious fire after they shared this video procuring a new casket for the late Afrobeat singer Mohbad. In the viral video, the screen divas visited a funeral home in Ikoyi. They were captured checking out the available casket options to give the late singer a befitting second burial. This move is coming on the heels of Nigerians clamouring for Imole to be given a more respectable funeral after his body was exhumed for autopsy on September 21 2023. According to fans of the late rap artist, his family did a tragic job of laying him to rest previously, especially burying him in an ill-fitting coffin with his neck broken and bent to fit.
In response to fans’ complaints and suggestions, Iyabo Ojo and Tonto left all they were doing to buy a new casket and plan a befitting burial for Mohbad. While this gesture has been praised by some people, in the same breath, many people have blamed the controversial celebrities for using Mohbad’s passing to chase clout and increase their popularity rather than genuine compassion for the deceased or his family. Since Mohbad passed, these actresses have been at the forefront of seeking justice from the police. Besides keeping everyone updated on the ongoing investigation with the police, the Nollywood stars have also been actively involved in speaking to people who may have information that could help the investigation. Sadly, after their trip to the funeral home, many Nigerians have reduced all their efforts to clout. Could this be the case? Are Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dike doing this out of compassion for the late singer? Or is it just a popularity contest?
