Nollywood’s most controversial actress, Tonto Dike, is now in a league of her own as she bags the deputy governor ticket under the Rivers State African Democratic Congress party. On June 24, 2022, self-styled King Tonto took all her haters to the cleaners after breaking the shocking news to her millions of fans with colourful campaign posters on her Instagram page.

According to the beautiful actress in several appreciation posts, she will be joining the Rivers State governorship race as the running mate of her party’s flag bearer candidate, Tonte Ibraye. Hashtagged, “RiversRescueMission2023, the race will see the 37-year-old mother of one gear towards creating social welfare and an inclusive system for the youths and women in her state of origin.

While many suspects that Tonto Dike, owing to her messy past, may have forced the hand of the flag bearer candidate to make her his running mate, the Ijaw politician, during a press conference, explained that he didn’t make a mistake when he chose the actress as his running mate because she is the best candidate for his vision. Tonto’s transition from filmmaking to politics has not been a smooth journey. But things are finally falling in place for the actress, who recently disclaimed that her aspirations are God’s divine arrangement and project and NOT a desperate plot.

With this feat, the single mother of one, also known as the minister of enjoyment, has made history as Nigeria’s youngest female deputy governorship candidate. But the question of whether she can repeat history by winning the election has many tongues wagging?
