‘Empire’ tv show star, Jussie Smollett was viciously beaten by two men in the early hours of Tuesday in Chicago a suspected homophobic and racist attack.
The mixed-race actor who came out during a 2015 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, had to take himself to the hospital over the incident.
TMZ reports that the men, both white and were wearing ski masks, they beat the actor up, put his head in a noose and screamed, “This is MAGA country.”
Sources also told TMZ that Jussie was on his way to get food when someone yelled, “Aren’t you that f***ot ‘Empire’ n*****?”
The men reportedly beat Jussie up, fractured his rib and put a rope around his neck, before pouring bleach on him and yelling “This is MAGA country” as they left.
ThatGrapeJuice.Net posted the letter below which was sent to Fox Studios in Chicago with cut out letters spelling, “You will die black f**.”
TMZ reports that the letter was sent 8 days ago.
The incident is being investigated as battery and are treating the case as a possible hate crime.
Celebrities and co-actors have sent their condolences to the amazing actor and condemn the horrible attack.
