Literary genius Chimamanda Adichie and her husband Dr. Ivara Esegee just welcomed a baby girl. The popular Nigerian writer confirmed having a baby about a week ago but decided to keep it private to Financial Times.
In an interview where she talked about race, her gender, heroines in her novel and much more, she talked about her new bundle of joy. Below is part of what she said to Financial Times:
This is the first time I’m saying it publicly. I have a little girl. I have some friends who probably don’t know I was pregnant or that I had a baby, I just feel like we live in an age when women are supposed to perform pregnancy. We don’t expect fathers to perform fatherhood. I went into hiding. I wanted it to be as personal as possible.
