Actor, Desmond Elliot Suggests The Ban of Foreign Movies In Nigeria To Allow Nollywood Growth

Popular Nollywood actor and politician, Desmond Elliot has called for the ban of foreign movies in Nigeria to enable the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry, but Nigerians are not having it.

The 45-year-old representing Surulere constituency at the Lagos State house of the assembly  said this in an interview with HIPTV, as he spoke on the current situation of the country’s Movie Industry.

The actor wants the Federal Government should make it difficult for foreign content to come into the country so that local content from Nigeria can grow.

Nollywood actor and director, Desmond Elliot, has called on the government to curtail the influx of foreign movies to help Nollywood grow, Igbere TV reports.

Elliot said this in an interview with HIP TV.

The Husbands of Lagos actor also said that the government needed to create an enabling environment for the entertainment business to thrive.

Desmond Elliot has starred in over 250 movies.

He was re-elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly on March 9.

He won best supporting actor in a drama at the 2013 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.

He was also nominated for a best-supporting actor at the 10th Africa Movie Academy Awards.

However, Nigerians are attacking Desmond Elliott online after he called for a ban on foreign movies in Nigeria to enable the growth of the Nigerian Movie Industry.
