It’s another weekend event in the lives of Nigerian celebrities. The weekend which just ended didn’t only surround Nigerian celebrities but most Nigerians as a whole, as the gubernatorial election was held, many birthday celebrations and surprises.
#1 Gubernatorial Election
The 2023 Nigerian gubernatorial elections held for state governors in 28 out of 36 Nigerian states on Saturday, 18th March 2023, while the Imo State, Kogi State, and Bayelsa State elections will be held on 11th November 2023. Across the states in Nigeria, only a few incumbent Governors were seeking re-election while most of the states elected new Chief Executive Officers.
While the collation of results is still on in other states and results are yet to be declared, Oyo State happened to be the first state INEC officials declared its state governorship election result. The Governorship electoral candidate, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has won the polling unit for the second term, as he scored 98 votes to defeat other candidates.
Meanwhile, results collated at all the polling units in the 21 Local Government Areas of Adamawa State on Saturday, 18th March 2023, showed that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Binani, has recorded the majority of votes ahead of her fellow contestants. She happens to be the first female governor-elect in the country.
However, the governorship election results have been collated in other states such as, Akwa Ibom State, Ogun State, Yobe State, Gombe State, Jigawa State, Katsina State, Kwara State, and others.
#2 Adekunle Gold gifts his mother new house
Famous Nigerian Singer Adekunle Gold threw a lavish birthday for his mother, which was held in an undisclosed location on Thursday, 16th March 2023, to mark his mom’s diamond jubilee.
He left his mother, family members, and guests who graced the event in awe when he handed over to his mother documents of what would be her new home.
For the birthday celebration, Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi, who is also a Nigerian singer, both rocked a blue lace shining outfit.
