Respected Nollwoood actress Monalisa Chinda has defended the Actors Guild of Nigerian (AGN) after the acting body came under fierce criticism from actress Kemi ‘Lala’ Akintoju over its decision to visit Regina Daniels and her husband Ned Nwoko.
Akintoju recently called out executive members of the guild on social media for paying a visit to Regina Daniels home to congratulate her on the arrival of her baby.
The actress asserted in a series of post on Twitter that leaders should channel the same energy towards other pressing issues clamoring for their attention within the movie industry.
She wrote: “This is actually shameful. In these times where the actor’s guild should show leadership on pressing issues like navigating the industry with COVID-19, like creating structures to stop sexual harassment in the industry. This is their priority.”
must you film and post? The videos we need to see about future and safety of practitioners. Yet, they abuse us and insist that we join. Sigh! 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

Apparently, Akintoju’s assertion did not go down well with one notable member of the guild in the person of Monalisa Chinda who quickly move to hit back at her colleague.
Taking to her Instagram page on Monday, July 6, 2020, the veteran actress defended the guild’s decision to visit Regina and her billionaire husband.
In a lengthy statement, Chinda Monalisa stated that visiting Regina was significant because she was a member of the guild and that she also reached out to them personally to share the good news of her child’s birth.
Excerpts from the statement reads: “Our attention has been drawn to an unsavoury statement by An Actress though not an AGN Member. Kemi Lala Akindoju on social media about the visit of the President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria to Mrs Regina Daniel Nwoko, one of our members who recently gave birth to a baby.”
