Recent graduates get in here! Barclays Banks UK are offering young graduates up to five hundred and fifty pounds for free just to help cover the cost of job interviews. What a breath of fresh air. we all know how much it can cost trying to attend every job interview possible to you.
According to new research from Barclays (who spoke to 1000 graduates in August 2018), UK graduates spend an average of £550 attending interviews before securing a job with 48% having to borrow money, take out credit cards or go into their overdrafts to cover the cost.
Which is why they’re launching their Graduate Fund – £20,000 of ‘free money’ that graduates can apply for grants from, in a bid to afford job interviews. Anyone can apply for up to £550 for either interview clothing, travel to and from an interview, accommodating during an interview, training and development, or tools and resources to upskill.
So if you’re a graduate in need of money to fund your train tickets to a job interview elsewhere, suitable clothing, or even to pay for a course so you’re better trained, Barclays are giving you the opportunity.
What’s more, graduates don’t have to pay any of the money back and there is no interest or hidden costs. Providing you graduated in 2018, all you have to do is fill out the form explaining what you need funding for in particular, and return it to the provided address by 6pm on Friday 19th October.
