Last year, the UK saw the first series of Born To Model UK online which was nominated for a CA Award and this year the Creative Director Maria ‘Leo’ Johnson has made it as a finalist for the prestigious 2016 Women4Africa awards.
Leo, 24, graduated from the University of Bedfordshire in 2013 with a BA Hons degree in Business and Finance and wasted no time in diving into the business world. Her companies cover business consultancy and accounting as well as fashion and entertainment. Leo has worked with Toni&Guy, Dao London, Damiva Beauty, Dionne Smith Hair and the amazing Faces Of Belleza models.
The serial entrepreneur has now taken her initiatives global with her ‘Heels4Africa’ project – “I wanted to combine my passion for something with my passion for giving back, so Heels4Africa allows people to do something really constructive with their unwanted heels – we collect them, resale them online and donate the revenue to fund educational and health resources in Africa”.
Women4Africa celebrates and empowers Africa and its women by supporting and celebrating their role in their communities. The Awards is held annually in the UK where a number of nominated women are awarded for their hard work and creativity.
Leo looks forward to the Awards night and hopes to take home the ‘Young Achiever’ award. Watch this space, as she continues to work on the second series of her modelling reality TV series, ACS Summer Break and her accounting and property management company.
