Drama has ensured on Twitter after Grammy-nominee singer Burna Boy recently took to the micro blogging platform to call out his colleagues for being pretentious.
In a two-part tweet released on Friday, February 13, 2020, the singer claimed that artistes in the Nigerian musical space are all pretentious group of people. According to him, hatred and jealousy presides in their hearts, and for this purpose, he doesn’t take any of their acclaims seriously.
The African Giant also used the medium to brag about being the best artist in the country and the closest musician to Fela Kuti the industry has known since the death of the African music pioneer.
FACT! I always knew I was and I am THE BEST. Everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m BEST since Fela Kuti. But @timayatimaya told me something a long time ago that made me not care about being the best. “The World can do without the Best” the world will still spin regardless.

However, his bold claims irked many fans on the platform who took turn to slam him for being proud. The standout reaction came from a twitter user identified as Jezzyofficial.
Jazzyofficial engaged the singer in a heated exchanged. He reminded him of his level back in 2010 when Afrobeats as a music genre was struggling to make heads way in the country. According to him, any success the Ye crooner enjoys today was prepared in advance by other notable artistes who came before him.
But Burna Boy lashed back at the twitter user by insisting that nobody paved the way for him. He took responsibility of both his success and any respect the Nigerian music industry may enjoy in the international arena today.
So far no top artists have reacted to Burns’s accusations. We’ll be sure to bring you any recent development concerning the incident.
