Coronavirus: Yul Edochie Tells Buhari to Provide Economic Relief Package For ‘Stay at Home’ Nigerians

Top Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has called on  President Muhammadu Buhari to grant economic relief funds to Nigerians after he imposed a lockdown in the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

On Sunday, March 29, 2020, President Buhari took further drastic measures to flatten the curve of coronavirus outbreak in Nigeria by ordering the shutdown of three states.

Yul Edochie took to his Twitter page on Monday March 30, 2020, where he released a series of tweets that appealed to the president for financial aid on behalf of the country’s citizens.

Yul Edochie says a relief package of fifty thousand naira per person would go a long way to sustaining Nigerians during the duration of the lockdown.

According to him, people may not obey government sit at home order if they can’t  afforded to provide their basic necessities.

The actor and politician went on to say that a relief package of fifty thousand naira per person would go a long way to sustaining them during the duration of the lockdown.

“Dear President @MBuhari Pls provide an economic relief package for Nigerians, even if it’s 50k each, it will go a long way. People are hungry, locked down with no money, begging left, right & center. With a situation like this, it’ll be difficult to keep people at home,” he tweeted.

Yul’s appeal comes barley 24 hours after the president announced in a broadcast that Abuja, Lagos and Ogun states will be shut down for two weeks to help track the increase of the virus.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says that the cointry now has 111 confirmed cases of coronavirus.
