Top Nigerian singer David Adeleke professionally known as Davido is calling a truce in the longstanding dispute between top celebrities in Nigeria and South Africa.

Davido is offering an olive branch in a bid to squash the bad blood and beef that has played out in public between celebrities from the two popular African nations.

The Risky crooner made this known in a recent interview where he stressed the need for Africans to be united on all front.

According to him, hostility traded between celebrity figures from the two countries only goes on to hurt ordinary citizens. He added that Nigerians and South Africans should see each other as brothers and sisters.

‘We need more unity in Africa. Even with the things that happened online with South Africa and Nigeria, I feel like it was just hurting a lot of people in between. We’ve been brother and sisters for so long,” he said.

Relations between celebrities from two of Africa’s biggest entertainment industries suffered greatly during the xenophobic period in the country that led to Nigerian singer Burna Boy threatening SA rapper AKA with violence over his comments on the alleged attack of Nigerians in the country.

Things have not been rosy with the two nations since, with diplomatic ties also hanging by a thread.

Hopefully Davido’s call for settlement will not just be heeded, but will signal the beginning of improved dealings between Nigeria and South Africa.
