D’banj had travelled to Los Angeles the day before the incident occurred and was due to attend 2018 BET Awards when the horrible news about his son’s accident reached him, he had to come back home right away.
The news about the popular singers only 1st and only son’s death started circulating yesterday evening.
Baby Daniel III, who just turned one year in May 2018 tragically drowned at their home pool in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria. According to reports, Dbanj’s son was with his mom, Lineo Didi Kilgrow.
It was a bittersweet night for fellow Afrobeats star Davido, who during his speech acknowledged the tragedy as he collected the Best International Act award. He also credited D’Banj for paving the way for African artists to enjoy mainstream success.
Davido said
‘Before I go on I want to send condolences to my big brother, the actual artist that pave the way for us to be on this stage, D’Banj,’ he said during his acceptance speech.
‘My condolences I wish you.’
