Ivorian international striker Didier Drogba has received the BEFFTA Humanitarian Award. Founded by Pauline Long, BEFFTA (Black Entertainment Film Fashion Television and Arts) Awards honour black film directors, actors, beauty pageants, musicians, fashion designers, journalists, authors, models, radio personalities, TV personalities amongst others.
In a video message to the awards giving ceremony held on 31st October at Central Hall Westminster, London, Mr Drogba said the Didier Drogba Foundation was “very proud” to receive the BEFFTA Humanitarian Award.

Mr Drogba, who has been named twice the African Footballer of the Year, is currently a striker for the Canadian club Montreal Impact.
He was awarded for being an inspirational person to many people through his charity work.
The Didier Drogba Foundation helps educate thousands of children in Ivory Coast. It also provides school kits to the needy children. The Didier Drogba Foundation has built a free medical clinic in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, and plans to establish several mobile clinics.
At the Didier Drogba Foundation, Mr Drogba said, they dream of a different Africa, a more educated Africa; a continent not only known for its famous footballers, singers, artists, etc., but also for its scientists, engaged leaders, and brilliant economists.
“I strongly believe that when we educate people, when we educate kids, we get a better generation” and these kids will be the ones to change the world.
