Global Africa Women's Week UK

BEFFTA founder Pauline Long who was recently honoured with a honorary Doctorate Degree at Birmingham University has just launched what is tipped to be the biggest gathering of African Women in the UK Parliament. Global Africa Women’s Week took place on Monday, July 4th and was indeed a day to remember.

The theme of the event focused on “giving the African woman her voice back.” Her Excellency former president of Malawi, Dr Joyce Banda gave the most powerful speech about the ability of an African woman. Using herself as an example, how she succeed and why she is where she is today. Urging others to rise, she stated that noting is impossible for the African woman. She encouraged African women in the room and everywhere to believe in themselves, their gifts and talents, Radiate joy and confidence as they build personal power, Monetise their passions, skills, Set and reach high-achievable goal, Become leaders in their businesses, communities and nations and most of all, work together to make their voice heard.

Dr Pauline Long CEO and founder of Global Africa Women’s Week UK saw over 30 organisations and media houses present at the historic event. Declaring 7th-13th August 2017 as National Africa Women’s Week, to help create more awareness about this movement, and give back the voices of  African woman in the village, in the city, in the Diaspora and globally get’s her voice back in areas that matter such as economy, leadership, education, health sector, justice and more.
