EBONY Magazine is one of the oldest African American magazines which is very popular not only in the US but around the world. For their latest issue, they celebrate professional black models who strikes more than poses for its September 2015 issue. The cover has a special message of affirmation in today’s age where black models are fading from the runway.
It issue takes a look at the ‘dying breed’ of black models and speaks to veteran runway models such as Beverly Johnson, Tyra Banks, Pat Cleveland and more who talk on their experiences in the fashion industry and say ‘Black models are ambassadors representing far more than the physical grace of Black people; they also represent our pride.’
Ebony Magazine itself recruited a new bunch of black models who are not only making a statement for Black skin, but also for the many shades that comes with it in a 10-page editorial. We get to see Chantelle Winnie (Winnie Harlow), Milan Dixon, Diandra Forrest, Samantha Archibald, Fatima Siad and Marquita Pring looking beautiful and fierce, showcasing diversity of black skin and more.
