Europe’s biggest award ceremony for black and ethnic minority 8th annual BEFFTA Awards UK is still the talk of the week. The glamorous event which took place on the 27th & 28th of October at The Rock Tower, London was attended by a host of stars from UK Europe, USA, Asia and Africa.
The Black Entertainment, Film, Fashion, Television, Arts and Sports Awards (BEFFTA), aimed at honouring the best entertainment , showbiz, leadership and entertainment personalities in UK and across the globe. Founder Dr Pauline Long co- hosted the event with Hollywood actor Winston George Ellis.
This year saw Nigerian Acting High Commissioner in London, Adah Simon Ogar as a chief guest who received BEFFTA Leadership Award.
Others who won leadership award are: Property Guru and one of the best dressed Nigerians in London, Richard Ejiro Obahor; Minister of Education Welfare & Consular, Nigerian High Commission UK , Mrs Olufolake Davies Abdulrazaq; Planet Nollywood CEO, Kunle Adejumo; Kenya’s Presidential candidate Hon. Dr. Ekuru Aukot, former president of the Maldives HE Muhamed Nasheed and Chief Mrs Elizabeth Ozua.
Other general winners includes; British sing song writer Lemar, who won the music icon of the year; Cherise Makubale won BEFFTA Global Humanitarian Award, Ibitola Ojoye Adebayo; Best Author, Giberky; Best Fashion Designer, Rhoda Wilson; Best TV series (Housewives and Girlfriends), Josh Daniels for Best Photographer, DJ MindD Gap for UK DJ of the Year, Shola Victor Sajowa for Best Female Gospel Act, SHiiKANE for Best UK African Female Act, Charity MissionToMalawi and founder Fikelephi Jackson won Best Humanitarian Award to name a few.
