Fela Kuti’s Son Seun Kuti Has been Nominated for a Grammy

Seun Anikulapo Kuti, the son of late Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti has been nominated for a Grammy.

A few months back, the afrobeat musician Seun Kuti put out a “For Your Consideration” asking members of the Recording Academy to nominate him for a Grammy award, Well as we all know, dreams can come true.

This is NOT A NOMINATION. This is simply a shout out to all my @recordingacademy friends to vote for my album since it is being considered! Even if e sweet to hear I can’t let the bloggers spread inaccurate stories. I am very glad with the outpouring of support tho and I know if Grammys were open voting , we will win everything. Nominations will be announced in December. We will celebrate then!! #getthesax

The Grammy nominations were  announced today and Seun Kuti name was amongst those nominated in the Best World Music Album category for his album “Black Times.”
