Tottenham experienced a successful first transfer chance with Antonio Conte at the helm. The Italian coach is known to be demanding of his bosses when requesting for them to employ the standard of player he wants. He formerly said the club will work tirelessly to in the way we’re doing and continue to enhance the speciality of our players”.

Director of Football Fabio Paratici has undoubtedly launched in some excellent talents, though club supporters have been emphatic that the club has not necessarily improved in all of the areas they are supposed to. But in as much as criticism is on the high side the club have launched in two intelligent acquisitions and shipped out five stars who were supposedly needed for long – including former favourite Dele Alli.

Fabio Paratici certainly used his connections at former club Juventus as Spurs confirmed the exciting captures of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski from the Italian side. Spurs beat Aston Villa and Lyon to the signature of Argentinian midfielder Bentancur, while Swedish winger Kulusevski was also linked with fierce rivals Arsenal. Conte and Paratici will hope Kulusevski can ease the goalscoring burden on Harry Kane and add some much-needed creativity up top for his new side.

Bentancur should help make his new side more direct while adding some much-needed steel in the middle of the park. Tottenham’s January signings: Rodrigo Bentancur, Dejan Kulusevski. Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele were the major departures during the month for Spurs – with both coming in the final hours of the window. The club’s record signing Ndombele returned to former club Lyon, who have paid a £1.2million loan fee, with the deal giving them the option to make the deal permanent in the summer for a fee thought to be around £54m.

Dele joined Frank Lampard’s Everton in one of the latest announcements of the day as the former England international moved to Goodison Park for a fee that could rise to £40m based on his performances. Giovani Lo Celso has also been allowed to join Unai Emery’s Villarreal while Bryan Gil joined Valencia, both being loan deals running until the end of the season. Clarke, 21, has joined Sunderland until the end of the season and will hope his exposure to more first-team football will help his development.

Tottenham’s January sales:  Jack Clarke (loan), Giovani Lo Celso (loan), Bryan Gil (loan), Tanguy Ndombele (loan), Dele Alli.
