These photos of two gorillas striking the perfect pose for a selfie with an anti-poaching officer in Virunga National park in Congo will put a smile on your face. While some humans still find it hard to strike the perfect pose for selfies, these gorillas already know what to do in the most fashionable way.
Two gorillas who live in Virunga National Park – a UNESCO world heritage site in the Democratic Republic of Congo were seen posing with anti-poaching officers for a number of photos.
In one particularly hilarious photo, the gorillas, named Ndakasi and Matabishi, stood upright and looked straight into the camera. In another, they were seen cuddling up to one of the rangers named Patrick Sadiki.
Around one-third of the world’s population of critically endangered mountain gorillas live in the park’s lush volcanic forests.
Ranger Mathieu Shamavu described his captivating composition as just “another day in the office”.
Mr Shamavu is part of the country’s Elite Anti-Poaching Units And Combat Trackers group, which is tasked with protecting the animals.
A team of more than 600 rangers undergoes “intensive training, risking their lives on a daily basis to safeguard the park’s exceptional wildlife”, it says on its website.
Thousands of people responded to the image on Facebook, with one user saying: “Wow, that is an awesome office you’ve got there. Stay safe and thank you for the amazing work you do.”
