Here Are Some Facts About Netflix’s Highly Anticipated First Nigerian Original Series

Popular American streaming giant Netflix is set to kick off its very first original series with Nollywood just few days after it became the latest African film industry to become a part of the Netflix African collaboration.

The exciting collaboration was announced by Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, Ted Sarandos, during the executive launch of the Netflix Naija dedicated Twitter handle which featured the biggest filmmakers in the country’s film industry.

Now both parties are already set for their first movie project which promises to be a huge one. The First Netflix-Nollywood original is a six-part drama series that would be headlined by renounced directors, Akin Omotoso, Daniel Oriahi and CJ Obasi.

The untitled series is set in contemporary Nigeria and will be shot in Lagos. Its storyline revolves around Kemi, a powerful goddess born into a makeshift human body whose aim is to avenge her sister’s death. But first, she must learn how to use and harness her superpowers in her limited human form in other to defeat the enemies and save her family from destruction.

The movie has a star-studded cast that includes Kate Henshaw, Ade LaoyeRichard Mofe Damijo, Joke Silva, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Kehinde Bankole, Ayoola Ayolola, Toyin Oshinaike, Goodness Emmanuel, Ireti Doyle, Fabian Adeoye Lojede, Bimbo Akintola, Tope Tedela and Ijeoma Grace Agu.

A premiere date is yet to be announced for the drama series, but we’ll be sure to bring you more updates in the even of any further development.
