Hilda Baci, a 27-year-old Nigerian chef,k has become a national and global sensation for smashing the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time by an individual. A media intelligence report has revealed that Hilda Baci’s cook-a-thon attempt was viewed 4.8bn times worldwide.

The Akwa-Ibom State born started the marathon cooking, which she tagged “Cook-A-Thon” on May 11 of 2023, aiming to cook for 96 hours and break the former record held by Indian chef Lata Tandon, who set a Guinness World Record for cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes nonstop in 2019.

Hilda conquered the previous record and also beat her own record, cooking over 55 recipes and over 100 meals in a whopping 100-hour marathon stint. In a never seen fashion, the event, which ran for 4-days nonstop, united Nigerians more than ever as millions of people, including celebrities like Charles Okocha and Tiwa Savage and high-profile individuals including the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, visited Hilda during the event to boost her morale. Millions of others who couldn’t make it supported the talented chef massively via social media.
