Hollywood Wraps Up a Boko Haram Inspired Dramatic Movie ‘Rise’ in Ghana

Hollywood has just wrapped up dramatic thriller ‘Rise‘, inspired by the Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria. The jihadist rebel organization is responsible for kidnapping hundreds of girls and women and enslaving them in the sex trade.

According to Deadline the movie, shot in Ghana follows eighteen-year-old Nigerian princess who allows herself to be kidnapped by the Boko Haram in a harrowing attempt to save her younger sister, eventually going head to head against Boko Haram’s most dangerous and calculating leader.”

The movie stars Sasha Morfaw, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Sufe Bradshaw, Sydelle Noel, Peter Mensah, amongst others and is directed by Maritte Go who co-wrote the film with Broderick Engelhard.

‘RISE’ is produced by Eric B. Fleischman of Defiant Studios alongside Maurice Fadida of Kodiak Pictures.
