After many months of delays, notorious Nigerian fraudster, Ramon Abass Igbalode, better known as Hushpuppi, has finally been sentenced to 11 years and three months in prison on Monday, November 7, 2022. This is coming after the 37-year-old was found guilty of laundering over 1.9 million dollars from the proceeds of a school financing scam, business email composite and other fraudulent cyber schemes. Interestingly, the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California is not letting the former Gucci master off the hook that easily.

Hushpuppi has also been ordered to pay 1.7 million dollars in restitution to two victims of his crimes. Like the common saying, the downfall of a criminal is always epic, and so is the downfall of the disgraced fraudster who went from being a social media celebrated billionaire to the best bathroom cleaner in the twinkle of an eye. Just ahead of his sentencing, the former Dubai Big Boy had begged the judge to temper justice with mercy on the grounds that his old scamming behavior has passed away and he is now a born-again creature. Putting forward his plea, the father-of-3 said he won the award for best bathroom cleaner in prison and has even obtained certificates on mental health, computing and creative writing.

On October 31, 2022, ahead of his sentencing, Instagram, the only platform where the Nigerian Big boy often flaunted his luxurious lifestyle, finally deactivated his verified account of 2.8 million followers that has been dormant since his arrest. Apart from Nigerian media mogul Mo Abudu securing the rights to produce a movie based on the fraudster’s life and story dubbed “The Fall of the Billionaire Gucci Master.” In August of 2021, Black American rapper and filmmaker 50 Cent is also interested in putting the fraudsters’ flamboyant lifestyle into motion. Announcing his plans to release a movie series based on Huspuppi’s life. Regardless, no one seems to be asking the real question, can the former Gucci master survive prison? #hushpuppi #hushpuppisentenced #Hushpuppimovie
