Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has cried out on social media over a threat message she received after declaring to withdraw support for the two leading political parties in Nigeria.
The movie star shared a disturbing post via her Instagram page on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, in which she expressed concern over her safety.
According to the mother of two, she woke up to a message from a friend in the media informing her that her name was being mentioned in government circles.
The context of the text, apparently, urges her to stay calm and refrain from challenging the government. The actress was told that smart celebrities with brains don’t tussle with political leaders.
“So this morning I wake up to a message from a friend in the Media, he said someone sent this to him. Now, if you are close to Iyabo Ojo, advise her to calm down. Smart celebrities who have brains don’t take on governments ooo. I was somewhere and her name was mentioned.” she wrote.
Reacting to the threat, Ojo wondered if it was an attempt to scare her from speaking out.
“Are we now threatened to silence?” she
asked.

Iyabo has been a vocal supporter of the #EndSARS campaign aimed at ending police brutality in the nation.
This comes after she vowed never to support any politician from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the shooting of peaceful protesters at Lekki tollgate by security operatives.
