Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has not only taken a brief break from acting and her amala business. Still, she has also put on her famous black bonnet as she drags the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for witch-hunting her for unpaid tax. On June 5 2023, the 45-year-old TikTok Queen cried out that the Lagos State government had given her a 7-day ultimatum to pay a whopping 18.6 million Naira in overdue personal income tax. However, the reality tv star brought out proof saying her tax records are up to date and she doesn’t owe the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service a dime. Crying out further, Iyabo Ojo said the tax notification is only a cheap attempt of the APC-led government to witch-hunt her for supporting Labour Party Candidate Peter Obi in the February 25 Presidential election.
We all know that popular saying by Walter Kirn, “Everyone loves a witch hunt as long as it’s someone else’s being witch-hunted.” Many supporters of APC have been mocking the Real Housewife of Lagos Star on social media, urging her to go and pay her debt or open a GoFundMe and beg her fellow Obidients to donate to save her. Another set of people claimed that nobody is witch-hunting her and that she needed legal help to sort out the issue. Is the APC-led government truly witch-hunting Iyabo Ojo for supporting Peter Obi? Or is she indeed owing such a big amount of tax? Is she about to go to jail?
