Justice for Uwa gained more ground yesterday after police arrested a suspect linked to the death of the 22-year old.
Vera Uwaila Omozuwa., a 100 level Microbiology student of the University of Benin, was found dead in her church parish on May 27, 2020, after being rapped and clubbed with a fire extinguisher.
According to PMNews, spokesperson of the Edo Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, said a fingerprint on the fire extinguisher Uwa was murdered with led to the arrest of the first suspect.
The suspect is said to have been arrested close to the scene of the crime.
Uwa’s death has elicited outrage and sparked a renewed campaign against rape on social media, with the police and the Edo state government promising to find her killers and bring them to justice.
